I did a sampling OAL on the brass and there is a variation between head stamps. I think I'll roll with separating the brass by manufacturer and see what happens.
Since my plinkers are plated bullets with no cannelure, taper crimping will be my first test. Berry's cautions against a heavy roll crimp because if you pierce the plating you can get keyhole rounds. If I keep the load at at moderate velocities with a good taper crimp I should be okay. I'm going to load 12 up that way, measure the COAL prior to shooting with a chrony and then take some data after the first shot- see if any other rounds in the cylinder suffered from walking in the brass (measure COAL on the remaining 5). Run that twice to verify.
Best guess on that press is the value is subject to what a collector thinks the worth is. That company is out of business and there are not that many in circulation- so parts would be tough to come by. I'd imagine some machinist/reloader may like it.
I wish I’d kept my reloading equipment. That’s all I gotta say.
At the age of 21 or 22, I think I was a better loader than shooter.
