Eric are you sure about the grease thing?
I only use quality grease on my slides.
That said I have used Mercuiser Marine grease in a pinch.
Never had any issues with it and seems to work well but good gun grease would be my go to stuff if available.
Light oil can easily be substituted with automatic transmission oil in a pinch and there are people that swear by atf.
I find it’s best to keep a good cleaning kit/area well stocked.
