My Stainless Ruger 1911 .45Cal has virtually no recoil. But, too large and 2 few rounds (it's a single stack) for EDC
I carry a mid-sized Glock 19. Recoil is not an issue like my G26 and MrsMs Sig P239.
Glock 19 is great........hardly any recoil, love mine. Want to get a SIG P229 Elite Stainless as well, just don't have $1,200 for a pistola at the moment.

A Glock 19 definitely has a stronger “kick” (recoil) than a Glock 17. But it’s not uncontrollable. A G19 is a trade off between size and ability to carried open or concealed. All guns is a trade off between its ability to concealed well, light enough to be carried all day, capacity, and ability to shoot well.
A good caliber to start out with is the .40 S&W, it has the stopping power and relatively easy on the recoil. But even with guns with heavier recoil, you can get used to them in a short amount of time.
While .40 S&W is a great caliber, it's not "relatively easy" on recoil, quite opposite - it's the heaviest of the most popular self-defense rounds in terms of recoil... It is harder than .45 ACP, because .45 acp is an old round and gun powder is not as compressed in it as in .40 s&w and bullet travels out not as fast.
Some ammo are snappy as hell like the Hornady 40sw 165 xtp. Try the Underwood 40sw 155 xtp. Very potent round but not snappy.
