I searched the firearm forum about this but came up with nothing.
I am considering buying a Coach Shotgun for no particular use. The choices are .410, 20 and 12 gauge. I know little or nothing about these other than for a video on YouTube.
I already have a sufficient home defense 12 gauge. I was looking at the .410 and felt that maybe it might be the way to go all things considered. The wife might enjoy the .410 more at least potentially.

Any opinions and thoughts will be appreciated.
First you find a time machine, and then look up Doc Holliday...
Ha, no seriously, is this for like a collection or retro cowboy action sports? Tell us what you mean by "coach gun" - Are you talking like black powder type guns, a modern recreation of the old west gun, or just, as a generic expression, any type of double barrel shotgun.

No "cowboy" shooting. Just an addition to a run of the mill collection. Easy to transport. Occasional rattlesnake in wrong place. Other varmints. Saw one at a gun store recently. Neat little guns. External hammer would be nice but they had none of those.
I have one. It is a Stoeger Supreme. Beautifully finished which has worked flawlessly after what has to be 500 rounds so far. It is the only shotgun I have. As to why a "coach gun", I just like them. Short, swingable and easy to handle. Good for around the house. To me what makes a shotgun a coach gun is the 20" barrel. There are other makes on the market but not very many.

Get the coach gun with external hammers!!! Pure awesomeness!! If you can find one, an interarms rossi import from about 20-30 years ago are some of the best I've seen. Go 12 gauge or 20 gauge.
