Oh, this should be fun. I know a few of the guys at Sierra. What’s Rich’s last name? I’ve never met (or heard of him).
Since you seem to think you have a clue about people at Sierra, Rich is a reasonably newbie to the company. He's only worked there for 25+ years. If you know anybody at Sierra, you would know Rich.

I am intrigued with 450BM! How do I pick an upper? Chrome lined? Any recommend manufacturers? How much should I be looking to spend?

Midway USA has a sale on an AR upper by Stoner. A R Stoner is Midways brand name for their AR uppers and parts. The barrel will either be Wilson or E R Shaw. I have several of their branded uppers and all are extremely accurate. You'll be hard pressed to buy a better hunting grade barrel. Theirs is an A3 upper ready for a scope. I'm not a fan of the A2 handguard and that's what it comes with. I much prefer a free floating type like a Model 1. Parkerized, 16" heavy barrel ready for your lower.

A last name would make verification easy. Is there a reason why you won’t provide it?

Thanks Trapper.

The $449 is a very good price for a 450BM upper.

I have a question for you. I already have a Remington 700 CDL for a .35 whelen. How would the 450 BM ballistic wise compare to the 35 whelen? (I am wondering if I am duplicating?)

Bullet weight to bullet weight, the Whelen is a little more gun. It'll push a 250gr bullet about 2-300 'ps faster than the 450 Bushmaster. Where the 450 shines in an AR platform is in heavy brush. Being a shorter platform means you can maneuver it around and swing it faster. For a comparison, the 450 is a lot more like a 444 Marlin. Heavy bullets for short to medium range. The Whelen adds a lot more range to the game. The Whelen will use a lighter bullet for optimum results than a 450. The heaviest bullet weight for the Whelen will be the 250 whereas the 450 tops out at 300 gr. More than likely you're shooting 180gr to 200 gr bullets thru the Whelen. With the 450, a 225 is a light weight with the 250gr more common for a factory loading. So it depends on what you intend to do with it. If it were me and the hunt was for feral hogs, I'd be more likely to pick up the 450 than the Whelen. Because hogs are basically blind, they can't see any distance at all, you can get close enough to put one down pretty hard. The Whelen, unless you hit bone is going to punch a hole in and keep on going. The wound channel of the 450 will be considerably larger. If you reload, the Hornady 250 FTX is the bullet to buy. It's made for the 450 Bushmaster.

Excellent. Too bad I can not rep you more before I spread it around. You’ve summarized better than all my morning readings on Google.

Thank you

Make sure your mags are stamped the cal or LE may mistake it for a high cap mag in some States. But, you probably don't live in a commie State to begin with.

Just for fun. Have you ever heard of the 22 Earsplittenloudenboomer? Try the 378 Weatherby Mag necked down to 22 caliber. It pushes a 45gr solid bronze bullet to over 6000'ps. While it has zero use as a hunting round, NASA uses it to test the shuttles components for small meteorite impacts.
They actually tested a .30-20MM
