Oh they're guys around here that shoot .50's long range on steel. I'm sure a few of these will wind up somewhere in MT.
Those rounds are going to require military pull down powder to be affordable, which when you can find it is usually $60-80 for 8lbs. I checked on line and each round takes (if I am reading it right), 800 grns of WC872!! An 8lb jug would wield 70 rounds. Holy buckets of powder!
Just one of the issues with this thing. What about the bullet itself? I cast lead bullets for my centerfire gats, I have to wonder what a cast bullet - which is likely to be the least expensive option for a projectile - would cost just based on buying alloy?
For non-handloaders unfamiliar with grains as weight - 7000 grains to the pound. So this thing wants more than a tenth of a pound of powder per round.
Contrast with the relatively practical .577 and .600 Nitro Express. Which you can fire from positions other than prone.
I mean, as a staunch libertarian, I support this guy in buying this if he wants it. But I could spend the money on a more useful and fun gat than this. But to each his own.
Well yes it is a NFA items and requires a $200 stamp. They are not real accurate as there intended us was as a tank buster. The process is quite easy but it does take time currently paper form fours are taking up to a year, FYI the silencer also requires a $200 stamp..

Part of the lack of accuracy is very likely at least in part attributable to the fact that no one (to my knowledge) makes a "match" type bullet for this thing. The 50 BMG has all sorts of components available, including match type component bullets. Most online stores have ammo, and brass and bullets anyway for the 50 BMG. 50 BMG primers are maybe a little easier to source than ordinary rifle and pistol primers. I'm not certain where you would get these for the 20MM.
Not real clear to me if the 20MM uses the same primer as a 50 BMG or not.
For less money and more fun, I'll go with a big sporting caliber double rifle.
Hell, I just wish I could buy powder and primers again for the guns I already own and load for...
True many ammo makers make turned .50 bullets for comps last ones I bought ( bullets not loaded rounds ) I paid 6.25 each for 300 rounds.
Of course the barrels on the 20mm are not the quality of the .50's cause the market ain't there.
Many of the 20mm's can use 50 primers. I am not real familiar with reloading 20mm I do have a few friends that do it but there is a small group of them. The guy I know that big into it bought 20,000 Vulcan bullets at a gov auction cheap. He had to buy a lathe cause the Vulcan bullets need to be turned down slightly..

Ya, it's still pretty frustrating. If shooting was my main sport I'd be bummed.
