IIRC the flat rate USPS Priority Mail boxes are a good way to ship *lead* and *bullets*, they won't ship *ammo*, but I think the bullets are OK.

Bullet makers would of course know all about this.

I prefer to cast my own, this can be a hobby activity in itself. So long as you take sensible precautions handling the lead and the lead bullets (primarily washing your hands well before eating) you should not have any problems with handling the lead safely.

Yep. I ordered a case of lead bricks once off of ebay and shipped it Priority. I looked out the window and saw the USPS guy waddling across the yard and panting heavily. Its hard to get a grip on an 8x8x8 inch box that weighs 50 pounds The poor guy asked what was in the box and I said "lead." He just looked at me for a few seconds and yelled "WHY!?"
