I've been out there twice, with my son. This time I may stay in town, in a motel, to live through the inevitable thunderstorms and deluge downpours! He may not be able to go, being locked into his new job.
I shoot a C. Sharps 1974, 45-90, with a Malcolm-style optical sight (my old eyes ain't what they used to be!). I also have a modern Browning High-Wall, also in 45-90, but it tends to kick too hard; they didn't put a heavy-enough barrel on it.
Ranges are out to about 900 yards.
Anyhow, it's a lot of family fun to be sure. Hope to see some of you out there, in Forsythe, MT.
Leave it to you to throw this in my face when I'm short on dough and starting a new job. I would LOVE to head up there with my 54 Sharps and my grey wool. Eat some beans and beef off the camp fire, not shower for a couple days and stomp around in my leather soled boots. Rifleman, you are a peach! send me some pics would ya! I could seriously do with some period rush this summer man.
Hey Rifleman! I'm suprised to find you outside of the mosh-pit (AKA religion and philosophy forum)
I'm more into muzzleloading, but I do have a reproduction 1860 Henry and have tried handloading blackpowder .45 colt rounds with it. Do they do short range guns or just the big stuff? That sounds like fun!
Looking for the Quigley Black Powder Matches/Shoots in Forsyth June 18th, 2010 weekend. I need the address of the event, Please.
