I went to see a new hairdresser today as I have moved to to Arizona, and when I explained not to overlayer the sides because it makes the back of my longish (6" past my shoulders) hair look sparse, she told me that she had extensions on her sides only. Then she showed them to me. I would have never guessed!

I had always thought of extensions as a big money commitment to get longer hair, but these were a subtle difference. She applies them as tubes that are flat ironed to the hair in fine pieces. She suggested about 5 on each side. About $100.00, as much as professional highlights over color.

At this moment it seems like a great idea.I color my own hair so I save $$ that way and only need about 2-3 haircuts a year. My hair is average thickness, but fine.Has any one else done this and have any regrets? Will they itch like crazy, or ruin my own hair?

Thanks!

Watch for them breaking off your hair and know how to take care of them. I don't think they are itchy but don't really tend to get an itchy scalp.

Thanks Pitt
My reservation now is that after I have had more time to look at it, it appears that she over layered the sides, even my husband noticed the front layers dropping back to far, leaving me not enough side hair. Which was the one thing I asked her not to do. I went in with enough hair on the sides. Do I have to buy it back? That's not sitting well.....

Is it possible she left me with a spot that needs filling in on purpose because I was considering the extensions.

I am so confused right now, but my hair is not laying right and the sides are layered weird. Not sure what to do. I miss my old hairdresser!

I think I need to post on the moving forum about the stress of finding all new services in a new state
