It's only been what, the last hundred years? that women have cut their hair. And long hair or short hair is nasty if it isn't cared for.

Quote:
Part of this was because all through my childhood my mom kept my hair in a pixie-cut.
Cil, me too! I wanted long hair so bad ... You lasted a lot longer than I did, though -- I cut mine from waist length into a shoulder length pageboy in college, and just kept going shorter from there. My hair is poker straight, thick and fine, and won't stay tied back or pinned up. Short and layered was the best way to go.

I have very, very short platinum blonde hair and am over 45. Several years back I gave up trying to make the cover of Vogue ! I can't really say if my hairstyle is the best for my face, frame, or age - but I love it, I never feel unfeminine, and I never, never have a "bad hair day". I frequently will have someone comment that they like my hair (maybe more because they can't believe it!). When you get a bit older you can celebrate the little things that make you smile and not feel the need to conform to all the "rules". If your over 45, or even over 85, and your long gray(black, red, brown, blonde) hair makes you smile, and feels like it defines you, why would you ever cut it?

I wish more women realized their femininity is not wrapped up in their hair. Many women (and men for that matter) use/view long hair as a third tit.
Taking this hair thing a little too serious maybe???

Sounds like you took my statement personally...ran with it and decided to through in a little projection and conjecture to make yourself feel better.

They're just words on a message board.

MeSoBe I think you went a little too far, considering that underage children can and will be skimming all these posts at some point, with your graphic language. You also come across as a little territorial. We're all here to have a good time!

And, while the forum is here for everyone to freely express their opinions, they need to be done so, without such a bitter edge exposed. Different views are welcomed, how else would we grow if we were only surrounding ourselves with what we think and know, but to a certain extent. When you get personal, and start upsetting certain people, it's most likely time to find a way to better phrase your threads.

Best of luck to you and your hairstyles. I hope if we cross paths again it will be under less harsh circumstances.

Fiddle,

It is funny....I have long, gray hair and did not take offense at all at the post. Perhaps, it hit you differently and I am sure there was no offense intended. As far as kids reading this board.....my goodness, how do animals suckle...at their mothers' teat or tit They hear far worse on the playground and school buses....I don't know you or the poster but I took the remark in fun whether meant harshly or not.

Default I'm sure kids love to spend time combing through City Data forum posts.

I can suffer a lot of people. I can suffer a lot of things -- disingenuousness isn't one of them.

In my opinion, long hair on women over 35 usually looks bad.
Also, I can't imagine having hot flashes and having to put up with soo much hair!

I say cut your hair into something more fitting to your age and situation. Agree or disagree?
Some people look good with long hair and some don't. Cher is a grandma. Maybe you can write her a letter, tell her to cut her hair.
