Link: Cancer-Causing Chemical Found in 98 Shampoos and Soaps | Yahoo! Health

Never heard of it and probably never cared even if it showed up on a shampoo label but it pays to pay attention to what we are consuming!

Tests ordered by an environmental watchdog group revealed the presence of a cancer-causing chemical in dozens of personal care products that lack a warning label required by California law.

California requires things tohave that label for anything that is even suspected of causing cancer. Now, clearly it is a problem that the companies aren't complying with the law in that state, and that is an issue.

However, cocamide DEA isn't proven to be a carcinogen, it's suspected. The class it is in is for chemicals that have inadequate or limited evidence to say it causes cancer in humans. So the headline is, unsuprisingly, misleading.

News reports exaggerate just to get us to read the story but still I do not want something that is even SUSPECTED of causing cancer to be in my shampoo or any personal care product. There are alternatives so I try to always read the labels.

Thank you, OP, for the information.
