Default Very short pixie hairstyle pics

I've looked and looked for a picture of a very short cut I have in mind.

I'm an older woman...small features. I want a cut that's short around the sides, a bit longer to poof in the back and on top.

I don't seem to be able to explain myself well when I get to my hairdresser.

I have very thick hair...not coarse...just a lot of it. I don't want it to have that helmet look, so I'm thinking lots of layers.

Does this makes sense to anyone out there?

Sorry, I think you're going to just have to look through alot of magazines, etc. and find something like you're describing and cut it out to show them.

I think I know just what you mean!! A couple of years ago I got my hair styled while in Santa Barbara - just about exactly like you discribed! I loved the look. Well, back in Arkansas I managed to get the hair trimmed about right until the girl that usually does my hair left. The new person I went to just made the biggest mess. I was so sad. I went to another place and told them I wanted an old fashion shag cut. A woman around fifty said she would give it a try and she did a fairly good job. At least we are working on it! I have an appointment tomorrow to get the front and top trimmed and am going to have her leave the back alone.

Good luck. You do want lots of layers.

Are you talking Jamie Lee Curtis-ish? I'd try to find a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like.

Thanks for all the responses!

I've looked extensively for a photo of what I'm talking about. Magazines, inter net, etc.

Every time I find something sorta like what I'm talking about, it's done in some weird, funky style. Since I'm not a stylist, I really don't know what I'm looking at cut wise. I only see the finished look. I'm just too old, short, and chubby to go with too much funk.

Jamie Lee Curtis is sort of the direction I'm going, but not that short. I want more hair on top and in the back. I have a lot of hair on both sides of my head...sort of mid skull to behind my ears. I keep telling her to cut it or texturize it, but it doesn't seem to happen.

I'll ask about 'capping'. I can work with my hair better after a razor cut. Seems that's not how it's done any more.

I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond!

Try this website...this is where I looked for my hairstyle!

Very Short Hair Styles Pictures - Short Hair - Haircuts - Photos

My hair is like the picture in the 3rd row, second one over from the left; I wear it just a bit longer.

When I found the style I liked, I immediately printed a picture of it. I take it with me when I go to get my hair cut (I recently moved and I'm trying to find a good stylist!!)

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the input!! You guys are great!

cathy, you located the sort of pics I was seeking. Yeahhhhhh!!!

btw, I live fairly close to where you moved. Not close enough to share a stylist, but not too far down the road. I'm in the west end of Monroe County.
