There is longish hair that is sexy if kept clean, and then looooong hair down a guys back which is gross and just weird.

I truly dislike long hair on men. Short hair and clean cut looks all of the way!

I have long hair, the length is down to about the middle of my back, pulled back in a ponytail and I keep it clean, it's black with gray streaks, I wear a fedora and look like the trumpet player Chuck Mangione..

Well ptsum, according to the comments so far you and I have a 50/50 chance of either being attractive or being looked at as weird.
I'd rather be called weird than a "computer geek" which is what I was called often when I chopped it off once a few years ago.Nothing wrong with being a geek but not for me.
Besides ladies,us guys with long hair can wrap it around your thighs.

during college is when "Grunge" started - and I LOVED long hair on guys. It was hot.
Now - I still like it but the majority of guys who wear long hair now I would classify as *losers*. Grunge was a fashion statement.
I have a picture framed and mounted in my office! It's of my husband at age 23, long hair and all...love it.

Depends on the guy... like Sawyer on "Lost" he looks good even if it's a little scruffy Some can pull it off. But you have to have good quality hair to start with.

I'm afraid thats the conclusion I jump to as well. Kind of a 'homeless' look or a druggie. At least the 'nerds' look clean, neat -and employed !!
