I decided to dye my hair a medium golden brown... Well, it turned out black or atleast pretty darn close...

Is there anything I can do to speed up the fading process? I dont want to redye my hair since I just dyed it yesterday.

I was looking at color removal but is it okay to use it a day afterward? Than redye it?

Just wash it with lemon juice, conditioner mixed with shampoo 3-4 times, then deep condition over night or hot oil treatment it. That will pull out the extra color. Lather the hair all the way down when you wash. Not just the roots. Washing the ends only like this starting 2 inches from the scalp makes it looks really natural as all hair is a bit darker at the roots. Good luck.

Wow...I didn't know that. Sounds like a good plan.

I guess it depends on what shade you started with and what type of coloring a person uses. For myself, I would just buy a box of coloring and do it a lighter shade tomorrow. I had my hair look somewhat olive green one time when I used an ash shade of blonde on my hair. I colored again with another shade and it went away. I use the boxes of hair color you can buy in any store.

I've been coloring my hair for over 30 years....so I'm real comfortable with using the do it yourself boxes.

I love dark browns and blacks...Its just something I discovered when I went to remove product buildup. Lemons was there...smelled nice..so...found out it works...lol

Dark color does wash out and fade so you don't need to bother with that 2nd box next time if you have a lemon around!

Or just wash with pert...You can even mix a little peroxide into your shampoo and wash (A 'perxode shampoo')...the longer it sits the more it will fade. This is not medical peroxide...you have to get it from Sally's or the like. I would get a 10 vol. and a bottle (the kind hair dressers use to apply color). Put about 2 -3 oz of shampoo and about 1 oz of 10 vol. Shake it up (put your finger over the hole!)Wash.

There's a shampoo out there called Prell that's suppose to speed up the fading process. I've used it when I had BLACK hair (that I intentionally dyed black) but it didn't really fade it much. (I suspect it's because it was black dye I put on it :P) So you may have a little more luck with Prell then I did.........

When I DID dye my hair black I eventually got sick of it and since Prell didn't work for me I used a color removal. BUT I used it WEEKS after I'd dyed it (I duno if it's such a good idea to use it within the first few days of dyeing your hair)....... It is called "Color Oops" and I used the extra strength one. It pulled the black out (which surprised me since black is suppose to be the hardest to get out) ..... but since you JUST dyed your hair I don't think I'd recommend it.

One thing I was guna ask was did you put the dye on VIRGIN hair or have you dyed your hair before????

Cuz usually if you have BLEACHED your hair blonde and then you put color on top of the bleached part your hair is going to SUCK UP the color like crazy! Which is why it's not wise to do box kits on bleached hair since you really won't know what color it's really guna turn out. What I do know is that when I HAVE done dark dye on top of bleached hair if it turns out too dark 9 times out of 10 after a few weeks it DOES fade by itself.........

So I'd advise to just let it fade by itself. Buy some Prell shampoo and use that. Lemon juice really only works when you're going to be in direct sunlight for a good amount of time.

P.S. Whenever I dye my hair at home it ALWAYS turns out WAYYYYYY darker then I expect.... but within like 4-5 days it fades somewhat (you'll see it washing out in the shower) and then after about a week or so it's at JUST about the right color that I wanted it..... eventually, after a few more weeks it DOES fade more....

I dyed my hair too dark and used one of those color removal kits right afterward - it came out O.K. but my hair ended up damaged - brittle and dry.
Try washing several times with a really harsh build-up removing shampoo like the clear Neutrogena.
If that does not work I recommend going to a haircolorist that has experience with fixing color mistakes.
