Um..I colored over perms and permed over color. Nothing fell out or off or melted. I am not a stylist, I just called the company to see what I could mix with what. They do state possibility of risk and that is why most salons will not touch it.
You CAN perm and color but it is risky. It is riskier if you are lightening hair. It is even riskier if you are lightening your hair yourself and perming. You were lucky. I have seen some REALLY bad results from people either doing this themselves OR going to a stylist that wasn't the best. I have seen hair break off at the root, melt, bent ends that look bad, and more.
For the OP, you have a big day so please see someone really good and do not do this yourself.

I do not call knowing what you are doing because you called and asked "lucky" but ok...I know I have seen the disasters and they usually forgot to tell the stylist about some sort of dye or relaxer they used.

I meant lucky because some chemicals react differently to other chemicals. Plus if you have had many different processes, it CAN be easy to forget what you put on your hair two years ago but the hair that was treated is still there (if it is longer). Also because if doing it at home your get a result that you weren't after, you may not have all the stuff handy to fix it. I am not making any judgements on your ability to do your hair or questioning whether or not you know what you are doing. It CAN be risky doing multiple processes especially if you are doing it yourself.
There is a reason that most beauty supplies won't sell 40 volume peroxide to non-licensed people. Too many variables for messing up your hair. From my experience with doing hair (licensed for over 20 years), you can make hair damaged from color feel and look better. Permed hair that is messed up cannot be made to look better and most times needs to be cut off. This is why many very good salons have a color specialist, someone who specializes in perms, and some who just specialize in cuts. Anyone can color or perm hair, but not everyone can do it well.
Oh I agree on some can't do it well...I have fixed many salon faux pas. LOL

What I noticed on the two of color vs. perm.
A bad perm usually burnt the hair on the ends. Chopping it off is the only way to go. With color its just that the shaft needs a filler and a coating on top. Try a seaweed mask on colored hair to pull out heavy metal deposits and then do that..It is beautiful. I found that on accident as it was something I had on hand and I just tried it to see what would happen. Later on I read the heavy metals in the water start to take place of the color mol. deposited in the hair as they wash out. I would suggest a shower filter to anyone who colors all the time. It makes a big difference.
I had a perm done over blond highlights, and it really damaged my hair (my hair dresser didn't know about the hi-lites because I had dyed a color over top of it). It was so bad I had to cut knots out of my hair. Be careful.
<----What she says. Also keep in mind that the chemicals in perms will also lighten your hair a bit too.
Most importantly, I hope you didnt use that stuff called 'Fe'ria'. Ive heard from a few places that it contains metal and once you use it, you cant use another brand of colour until it all grows out because the 'metal' chemical and the 'other' chemicals together can/has been known to cause serious damage when they collide. Ask your beautician, I got this info from the beauty college here and a place back in Az when I lived there.
