Thumbs up Organic Hair Product that works!

I just want to say something about misconception of organic hair care products.

Most people are skeptical that organic product doesnt work well. That is because most people don't put up the money for it. You pay for what you get. Organic food and products cost more because it cost more to make! Growing something organic, means no chemicals, thus means a lot of personal care, labor and attention. So if you're cheap, might as well not buy organic because you're just throwing your money away.

I used to use this Aveda organic product (Aveda - products that nurture. hair care. styling. light elements(tm) smoothing fluid) that suppose to soften my hair, it runs for a ~$24 +S&H for a dinky 3.5oz bottle, from my experience it works pretty ok.

Another brand that I used to like that worked below so so for me was Giovanni's organic line (Giovanni Cosmetics you can find them at integrative green pharmacies such as Pharmaca), their stuff are not as organic as Estella Jin's, and it didn't work as well as Aveda and Estella Jin, Giovanni is much cheaper ~$7 for a 5 fl oz bottle because they are a cheaper quality product (but their bottles looks nice). One of the reason I didn't like Giovanni is because they are not that organic as they advertise, they use a lot of chemicals in there, too much fragrance (smells like as if im wearing perfume), and it leaves a thin layer of oily residue that makes my hair sticky after it dried.

Then i started using the organic Deesse by Estella Jin Beverly Hills ( Estella Jin Beverhly Hills )that one has much better results and the best value too, for about the same price (and a free bottle when you sign up for their free club), you get 8fl oz! thats 240ml! (and FREE SHIPPING!! ) Lasted me a whole month and a half. They use certified organic and natural ingredients like chamomile, jojoba extract, green tea, kelp and things like that, it works very well. Especially for a surfer girl's hair like mine thats always expose to junk in sea!

In summary, organic hair care products works well if you know what you're getting, also depending on how much you want to spend, better quality = more $. If you want to be cheap and get cheapo products, thats your choice and thats why they don't work well.

Personally, my favorite is Deesse, best bank for the buck and i saved some money too by not needing to go back to stylist to repair my hair as often as using Deesse.

anyhow, if anyone can help, I'm also looking for some suggestions on organic gel, anyone knows one that actually works well and maintain my hair structural integrity thru out the day without reapplying?

Thanks!

Alice

i think more people these days are looking for organic products as the side-effects of chemical based products are visible to everyone.

but, my suggestion is to select any reputed brand even if you go for organic products and more essential is to know the type of your hair and what products will best suit them.

Thanks for your post.

From my exprience is, the so-called reputable brand and big comapnies don't always have the top quality products. For example, Estella Jin Beverly Hills focuses on making only 2-3 products such as their organic treatment spray Deesse, and they actually have a few practioners that research their products. Aveda is a bi reputable brand, but their smoothing fluid was ok comparing to Estella Jin.

So I'm actually looking for an organic hair gel that's NOT a big reputable brand, because from my experience with organic hair care prodcuts, you are only paying for their name to be reputable.

Simialr to my favorite organic coffee shop, is a smaller local shop that have the freshest and tasty coffee compare to chains such as starbucks and coffee bean.

Anyhow, time to cook dinner! Asian chicken salad and a glass of riseling! =)

Aloe. Thanks, I'd totally forgotten about it. My mom used to grow it to use as a moisturizer/cleanser.

Have you tried the Davines line? So far I've only bought the Glossy Plasteline for Wizards (aka hair gel), but it's great stuff. It works well if you go light on application, but my hair is very fine and very straight.

I think it's only available in salons, not online. There's a map of salons on their website that carry the line.

Davines

Also, you might try a hair & skin care line called Aubrey. I'm using both their skin and hair products. Love them! Great skin care. I had a makeup artist tell me that they're the cleanest line on the market.

I've tried Aubrey organic shampoo before, the effects were comparable to Costco shampoos that my grandma uses.

My hair tends to get flat, dry and tangled naturally, but the only thing i found that works very well is the organic hair care treatment that my stylists and his colleague recommended, Dessee by Estella Jin Beverly Hills (Estella Jin Beverly Hills - Organic Hair http://www.EstellaJin.com). I carry it with me thru out the day, I have one in my gym bag, one in my hospital locker and one in my car (incase of emergecy dates =D or after surfing to protect and neturalize any chemicals or debries from the dirty LA coast). I just apply some 15 mins before I get into early morning meetings, which makes my hair fuller and soft & silky (and detangles my hair) for presentation, and apply it again after lunch or after work before happy hours with my girls.

I love them! mainly because Estella Jin Beverly Hills supports our ecosystem and promotes sustainability, they have real doctors and pharmacist conducting research on organic and herbal formulas, plus Deesse contains a lot of certified organic goodies such as jojoba, aloe, vitamins, green tea ..etc AND at the same time it is an easy-to-use, light spray, that you just apply and let it air dry quickly thus my hair turns smooth and silky like a baby's hair with no oily or sticky residue! Anyways, I can go on but bottom line is I love them! Both my stylist and I are very happy that we found Estella Jin.

I've used Giovanni's before, they only have a cute bottle and their formula was way too oily and heavy. The fragrance in Giovanni's organic can over power my perfume easily, too much chemicals for my hair.

Thanks SeeBee, I'll keep my eyes out for Davines. What Davines products do you use? and what are your experiences with them?

Aubrey works well with my hair and I'm happy with their products. I only have one Davines product so far: Glossy Plasteline No. 6. It's a very firm holding hair gel. A little too firm for my liking & next time I'll get one that's less firm.

Thanks for the info on Estella Jin ~
