Hi!

Which hair styles are irreversible?

I know that chemically straightening or perming your hair is. Perm being an abbrevation of permanent.

I'm not really sure about dreadlocks, sisterlocs, or I guess locs in general. Are all of the numerous types of locs irreversible?

Are cornrows irreversible?

Thanks!

Everything is reversible, eventually, by cutting the hair off and regrowing it. Cornrows you can just take out, but dreads are so matted that you'd have to cut them off.

Perhaps I should've said "hair styles that cannot be taken out unless you cut them off".
Thanks!

You can comb out dreads. Any extensions/loc stuff I know how to do, you can take it out. Usually its just stuck in by glue, braiding, some sort of attachment piece like threads, metal rings or plastic melted loops that you can unbraid, unclamp or crack off (plastic ones).

Your hair might be damaged a bit from dreading and have to cut off some ends if you brush it out.

I didn't know that.
Thank you!

True dreads are permanent. They need to be cut out. Dreads that are put in with an adhesive of some kind,,,*usually* can be removed with minimal damage.

Yes, all hair can be reversible. But you probably would have to get a haircut and let it regrow.

I've never heard of adhesive or braided in dreads! Everyone I've known that had them they were PERMANENT. No way any product or effort would un-dread them, in fact I know someone that partially tried and the hair basically broke off and the parts that did un-dread were barely recognizable as hair!
