I think it depends upon your coloring. Some women look beautiful in gray hair and others look a bit blah. Right now, I'm able to just keep streaking mine blond and blend the gray in, so far so good. If I get enough gray, though, I'm going natural for sure, but will make sure and do stuff to it to keep it from looking yeloow and dull.
I highly recommend the Pantene shampoo and conditioner for gray. DH uses it and it whitens and brightens his gray..no yellowing.

For the ladies that want to keep their grey hair conditioned and shining beautifully I rec. Back to Basics, & Joico products. Of course, IMO, Paul Mitchell is still one of the best.

I've been using dye regularly since my later-30's. I cannot see myself stopping anytime too soon unless I develop an illness that causes loss of my hair. Other than that, one just can't stop unless she is willing to either chop it all off, or wear tacky two-toned hair, as one of my friends is doing.
Sometimes I wish to hell I'd never started it, quite frankly. To me it's a chore. But, since I've never seen myself "gray", I'd probably pass out if I saw my real self in the mirror.

My mother started going gray early and I did the same. For her it was just a little at the temples first and it spread out from there. I always thought she had beautiful hair so when mine started (at 15 a classmate practically screamed "you have a gray hair" then pulled it out and handed it to me!), I just thought, "Ok. It's starting early." I am now in my mid 40s and my hair is platinum (not white, not gray but shiny silver). Our son, who is in his 20s, doesn't remember me with any other color hair and is now starting his own crop of gray - which makes his mama proud! I have put a rinse in my hair a couple of times and may do that again for fun but really I like my color.

oMg. I will never stop coloring! . I am brunette and in 40's *(started in early 30's with color). I have never colored my own hair. Always get it professionally done. Pricey but worth it. I refuse to let myself go!
Use Paul Mitchell and Schwarzkopf products....

Black socks? With green tennies???
Even eccentric old bats know you dont wear black socks with green tennies.
Youre supposed to match them to the season. Everybody knows that.

Well I guess I'm "letting myself go" if that means I'm letting my hair be a natural color. I'm certainly not letting myself go in terms of maintaining my weight and exercising faithfully despite that fact that I have multiple sclerosis. Granted I've had to give up many of the active things I used to love, but I still can do Pilaties and indoor rowing. I am much more than my hair color. If I thought of myself in those terms I would have thrown in the towel a long time ago. I am as healthy as a 59 year old woman with multiple sclerosis can be, and I'm proud of it.

I used to dye my hair a lot when I was in my late teens and early twenties. I kept dying my blond hair darker thinking it would look fuller, I did try some platinum colors too. Finally I quit and have had this honey blond color naturally for many years. Now I have some grey at the temples, it still looks blond though. As I get more grey I'll have to decide whether to color again or not.

"I refuse to let myself go!"...Where's yourself going?
It's funny how letting your hair be its NATURAL color and not dumping some chemical dye on it is considered by some as "letting yourself go".
