I have chin-length thick, coarse, wavy hair with a lot of frizz. Here is what I do:

1. Shampoo and use a lot of conditioner. Sometimes, I will run a comb through my hair while the conditioner is in it in the shower;
2. Rub frizz serum between hands and run over towel-dried hair. Then I put my hair up in a turbie-twist to further dry it;
3. I have bangs so once I'm done with my make-up, I'll blow out my bangs.
4. I use Catwalk Curls Rock and put a pea-sized amount in the palm of my hand and rub my hands together. Then I run my hands through my hair. A little of this product goes a long, long way;
5. Then I take individual pieces of hair that may range from about 1 inch thick to 3 inches thick and twist them into ringlets with my fingers. The hair product will make the ringlets stay in place, but sometimes I will use a clip to keep the twists in place.
6. Take a diffuser and use low volume but high heat to set the ringlets in place. I'll usually wait until I get to work about 45 minutes later and then I'll play with the roots of my hair to get some volume and mess up the ringlets a little bit. There is no "wet look" here.

This may work even if you don't have a lot of wave in your hair. If you aren't opposed to using "products" in your hair, another one to try would be Sebastian Potion 9. It is a little pricey, but after your shower just towel dry your hair and run the product through with your hands. No wet look with this product either.

My old faves were the Sunsilk brand curl creme and mousse, both of which apparently have been discontinued.
Why do they always seem to discontinue the products that seem to work? lol

Leave in conditioners and more hydrating shampoo's & conditioners. Ask whoever cuts your hair to look at your frizz halo. It could be dry fine hair just breaking off. Use a silk pillowcase to help avoid that.

Do you deep condition with anything? If not start doing that.

Wow, that's a lot of work. Try this stuff Lok & Blok at Anti-Frizz Products, Frizz Control, Curly Frizzy Hair and cut down on your cost of products plus time. They have quite a following.

Try Biolage smoothing products. I've had the best luck with them, even in heavy humidity.I also use a Chi smoothing iron after blow drying.

I have curly, fine textured hair and I develope products for hair with specific needs- along with products for normal hair. Being a cosmetologist and developer I have tried everything known to man to control the curl/frizz- some of the products mention above as well- great products... they just didn't work for me. So I'm manufacturing my own...
If I know what kind of hair you have and what you want your hair to do- I can usually fix you up or send you in the right direction.

Here is the gist of it.... because of the hormonal craziness direction my hair has decided to take I have grown my hair to out from a shorter mid-neck tossled curls look that I like with some tapered bangs to blend into the length to growing it below the shoulders for weight. Why, because...the shorter the frizzier and uncontrollable. I really hate hairspray. I feel like I'm too old for that wetlook also. I have spent hundreds of dollars on products. I do NOT want to straighten my hair, which is what most people tend to recommend...using product and heat to straighten it. Hot curlers or curling iron work til I step outside, then...back to the frizz. I really just want to tame the frizz of that wirey hair that seems to be creeping in as you age. I like my curl, it is a loose curl, my hair is on the finer side...as you describe is yours. I simply would like to be able to wash it, condition it and have a product that I could use like a leave-in conditioner that won't dry with a wet hard or crunchy look. I don't mind blow drying with a diffuser and scrunching it as it dries, but currently the products I have found do not tame that frizzie top layer. The underneath layers are behaving themselves, but the top layer...looks like crap! The only way to tame it is to let the hair dry then spray the hell out of it with hairspray...which I simply hate. I like the tossled bouncy wavy curls I used to have that didn't look like I have stuck my finger in an electric socket! LOL

Is there any hope?

I have the Morraccon Oil products and don't see a difference between them and Chi or some other serum.

I get really frizzy hair in the humidity and was thinking about finding a salon that does the Brazilian Keratin straightening. It's supposed to be better for your hair than the Japanese thermal straightening, but it's about $250 and up.

Okay, I did the Brazilian Keratin treatment and it's wonderful! It's very humid here in Chicago, and I've tried every product under the sun--some have helped a little but my hair still frizzes out if I'nm in the humid weather too long. I got it done last week, and now I just let my hair air dry and put a little product in it. I did the coppola one.

My tips: 1)PHYTO Product Line: Anti-Frizz (http://www.phyto-usa.com/antifrizz.asp - broken link) 2) Don't wash your hair more than twice a week 3)Wash it, blow dry and flat iron at night.
