Hi all. My husband is being relocated to Newport News shipyard and we're looking to buy a home somewhere relatively nearby. I'm seeing some beautiful homes in the Hampton, VA area to the east but I'm concerned about schools there. Although my daughter is only 8 months old and we're not certain my husband won't be moved again, I'd still like to buy a home with the long haul in mind. Price is important, but for the right house we'd splurge.

Housing and schools
If your looking to buy, The "older" neighborhood of Colonial Acres,off of Old Buckroe might be the place to investigate.. It is zoned for ASBURY school, rated the best in the area, has a daycare very close, and filled with laughing children..Its not a very large area, but has homes right on the water,if you have a boat,or just want waterfront.. Very friendly neighborhood,the drive to shipyard would still be a drive
