In South Hampton Roads, each city's income level tells a story | HamptonRoads.com | PilotOnline.com

In the above link, The Virginian Pilot has released an article and an interactive map where you can see local neighborhoods' median household incomes stacked up against regional, state and national numbers.

Out of the 7 Hampton Roads cities, the article focuses on South Hampton Roads with the cities of Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth and Chesapeake. According to the article Hampton Roads is fairing well, and now you can see where your city stacks up!

Guess my hood is full of over achievers. I'm surprised I thought Portsmouth would of been the lowest.

That's dismal! VA Beach HOUSEHOLD income, $63,370?! Assuming 2 people in the household are working, that's only $31,685 per person. That's peanuts!

I wish I could earn some of those "peanuts" . I have been looking for work since we came here last year, and written dozen of applications. For "normal" jobs I would like to work in, as retail and the like, I am over educated, and for my college degree, there is no demand around here. Leaves only self employment.

Political science and modern history. Maximum that I can find with it here is substitute teaching, but they have trouble to accept my degrees from a German University so I am waiting on the people who get paid to transfer my papers into something that will translate my grades into the system used here.
