I thought about commuting because the money is so much better in DC. I think a train runs from Newport News up to DC--unsure of the details.
Are you thinking of commuting every day?

I Am Thinking About It. I Was Hoping For Already Established Transportation. I Was Thinking About Getting Some People Together And Starting On My Own.

Chinese Bus
I am not sure about that bus I do know that Chinese bus company that has runs from Norfolk to New York Roundtrip for $60 the bus leaves everyday. Try this website to see if they service DC GotoBus - Bus tickets, bus tours and vacation packages.

it's a 3 hour commute on a good, no traffic day! By car.

I work in DC also. If you come up with something, let me know. I'm in Portsmouth.

Amtrak has a station in NN and would drop you off in Union Station in DC. Problem is that the only trains that leave are at 9:10 and 4:20

That's what prevents me from really considering that option myself. That commute just isn't worth it...you would be on the road just as long as you are at work!

Co-signing....just getting from 495 down to F'burg will drive you batty.
HOWEVER. I do notice that going down 17 isn't as bad traffic-wise. It's a little longer drive however.
All in all...you'd probably be best to either try to get a work from home arrangement or work 4 10 hour days and stay up there and then come home on Friday or Thursday night.
