Default nice apartemnts in Chesapeake or VA BCH

I am looking for a nice apartment in Chesapeake or Va Beach. It doesn't have to be super big, just in a good area where I feel safe getting out of my car at night if I am alone. Please make some suggestions about good complexes in one of these areas.

Also, would buying a condo cost the same monthly as renting?

Chesapeake and Virginia Beach are two totally different cities. Virginia Beach has a lot to offer, beach, night-life, younger crowd, more singles, etc. Chesapeake is more laid back with great schools. By far Virginia Beach offers more rental choices. "Base traffic" can add to your commute so I would consider that when selecting an area to focus on. As to renting or buying....renting probably will be cheaper unless you have a respectable downpayment. Another consideration is how long you plan to stay in a condo/apartment. If its for just a few years I would recommend renting.
