Ex Army Guy is on a distinguished road
Default Specific Locations OK in/around Ghent & ODU???

All:

I am getting out of the Army and starting work in the Hampton Roads area in about three weeks. My income will start at $50,000 per year. I am young and single so would like to live within walking (or stumbling) distance of shops/bars/restaraunts. I am leaning towards Ghent and the ODU area because I haven't been able to find anything affordable near the VA Beach Town Center.

I have read posts here referring to specific areas that are regarded as dangerous, but can someone tell me some geographical references (i.e. particular blocks or intersections) for areas that ARE OK but have affordable apartments (i.e. 1 bedroom for $850 or less).

If you know specific apartment complexes that are OK and could send me a private message I'd also appreciate that very much.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks!
