Hi Everyone,

We just got a new puppy not to long ago. I'm just wondering does anyone have any good suggestions on where to board him??
Have never had to board any of our animals before.

Thanks!

I use my vets boarding facilities. You may want to check with your vet. You didn't say where you live, but there is a new facility in VB at ships corner that is a fancy doggie spa.

My sister uses that place. She apparantly does not have anything bad to say about it.

We use Hunt Club to board our dog. Hunt Club Boarding Kennel and Cattery - Virginia Beach, VA- Welcome

Other kennels that I hear great things about are Holly Ridge and Sterling Meadows. Sterling Meadows Farm Kennel & Cattery Home

All three of these are kennels on farms and have dog runs.

I would not recommend Sterling Meadows in VB. I just boarded both of my dogs there, and they are both very ill. My male has a serious condition, which may be a very severe kennel cough or canine influenza. I've been to 2 vets, spent nearly $1,000 and they are still sick, but starting to recover two weeks later. Both dogs had all their vaccines, Sterling Meadows claims no other dogs have gotten ill, however both vets are certain they contracted it from the kennel.

Default Boarding Pet

I use to keep my pet at Acredale Animal Hospital off Indian River Road. They were great there. I only stopped taking her there because we moved and I had to find something closer. They are very friendly. I never had any complaints.

Default Slamdunc and Sick Dog

Normally I would not respond to anything logged in these forums, however, there was a posting from Slamdunc dated September 20, 2007 at 8:14pm that was of particular interest to me.

I also had my dog at Sterling Meadow for day care back in August 2007. I recieved a call indicating that my dog was sick and they had to take him to the vet. I did not think anything of it til I got to the vet. My dog was in good condition when I took him to them. Had he shown any symptoms of being sick that day I would not have taken him to day care.

When I spoke to the vet they told me my dog was in very bad condition. He almost died. I spent $2500 over a 6 day period for the vet to bring him back. The vets did an excellent job.

I do believe my dog picked up something from Sterling Meadow.

While I can not prove it, it just seems very coincidental that I just happen to run across someone else who had been there and their dogs became sick.

I use Sterling Meadows and never had a problem. But you have to be comfortable where you put your dog.
