Thoughts on Ghent Village
Me and my fiance were down this week looking at apartments for a possible move to the area. We are looking into apartments or a SFH. Anyway, we really liked Ghent Village and wondering if anyone had any experiences or any feelings about the Ghent Village apartment complex. I thank you all again for taking the time to read this post. You replies to my other post have been immensely helpful.

Although I live in Northern Virginia now and am not sure of your exact intended meaning, Baghead, I find your post offensive.
I don't know about the exact Ghent complex, but you've probably already heard that Ghent is one of the more creative communities in Hampton Roads. And it does contain 'normal' families.
I don't mean to drag this off-topic, please continue.

Although worded poorly, and obviously a 'trollesque' comment, Baghead's statement holds truth. There are some gay men and couples that live in that area. If that bothers you, then it may not be the place for you. Personal opinion: The area is probably better off as a result as gay men generally tend to take care of their homes and spend a good deal of money in the local community.

That's what I was thinking. I could care less if people who live around me are gay or not. It would probably be a nicer place to live because of it to tell you the truth. I told my future wife about the earlier comment and she couldn't care less either.

Ghent
I just moved to Ghent from California and i like it don't love it yet.. But everyone seems friendly and the pace is a lot slower. I don't think I would want to live anywhere else but the Ghent area because it feels pretty safe here and everything is in walking distance. People are not big on recycling here and that's a drag as coming from Calf recycling is like breathing it's just a way life. Food is ok nothing special as of yet.. Norfolk is what it is and you kind of have to make your way of exsistance within it no one is going to go out of thier way to make you fit in you just have to fit in. As far as all homophobic comments well I guess thier are ignorant people evrywhere in the world and Norfolk doeas have it's share...

Ghent has been a known for having a homosexual community for many, many years now. You can't mention Ghent without at least making reference to that fact. If you took my reference to that in a negative light, that reflects on your own hypersensitivity. So as not to destroy anyone's delicate sensibilities, let me add a Seinfeldesque, "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
I do agree that Gays usually make great neighbors.

The few times I've been over there, it seemed to be a very quiet and well maintained community.

Ditto.
Also in my estimation, probably one of the safest areas in the city.
