Default Chesapeake - Hampton - Newport News - Norfolk - Portsmouth - Suffolk - Virginia Beach made into one city??

I am talking about city consolidation like was done in New York in 1898.

Why do you ask that? I been gone now for 10 years. I miss Chesapeake so much. Anyway I do remember your question always being in the news in some form.

I say no way. Each city has its own unique charm or appeal.

Yes. Separately each particular city will only likely gain at the expense of one of the other cities.
IMO, combined they can all achieve much greater benefits than they ever will divided.
