Hello! My husband's job is taking us to the Virginia Beach area. We are very excited for this new adventure, but I need help locating family oriented place to settle us for the next 5+ years.
We have child who will be going to 8th grade so I'm concerned about High School and still Middle schools. Seems like HS are very bad in Virginia Beach area. Why??
We are looking to buy a house with a pool and quite, private yard for about 450K in the area of Virginia Beach but should we look elsewhere? What areas are family friendly with good schools? My husband's commute would be to Chesapeake.
Thanks for any useful info!

An early welcome to the area. Both Virginia Beach and Chesapeake have very nice areas with homes in the price range you mention. Also since your Husband will be working in Chesapeake, he would not necessarily fight traffic during rush hour if you considered Suffolk as a possibility.
With respect to schools, and as outlined at www.doe.virginia.gov, 9 of the 11 high schools in Virginia Beach are fully accredited with respect to the Standards of learning. All seven high schools in Chesapeake are fully accredited.
I received your request.

Thank you for the information.
I'm looking to relocated my mother as well. She wants to live in retirement community for seniors. Do you have any recommendations from family or friends for a senior place by any chance?

Like everything else, it depends on what your Mother wants to pay. In Virginia Beach, Westminster Canterbury is very nice...http://www.wcbay.com/...but one of the more expensive. Atlantic Shores is another very nice retirement Community. Have had friends who have parents who have lived in both. Based on my experience with my Mother, you might want to consider places that start as a retirement place, but have facilities for transitioning to "assisted living" within the same complex. Lots of options but I can attest to the adage of "you get what you pay for".

You need to get the line checked. You must have a leak/cracked pipe. That's over $300 a month.

Great Bridge or Hickory areas of Chesapeake! Schools are great and we've been very happy here!
