Hi,

I posted before but never got a response so thought i might ask a different question and hopefully someone will have some advice. It's a two parter.

First, my sister and family are considering a move here from Boston and i told them i would move with them. Her husband is relocating for work and they have two small children. Is one area safer than others in Virginia Beach for small children and what types of family networks are there for her and her children to get involved in.

Second, it seems all the people i know in Virgnia Beach are married. is it a good place for a single young 30's to start over and what is the job situation like. Obviously the military/government jobs are the majority but are there a lot of oppourtunites in school districts for a teaching position?

Thanks for your time.

I work with a lot of 30 something single women who seem to like the area. There are lots of activities.

As with all towns/cities, there are good and bad areas to live. I used to live in VA Beach in the Ocean Lakes development. Ocean Lakes is between Dam Neck and Oceania Naval Bases. (Lots of jet noise.) This is a middle class neighborhood. There are nicer, more expensive areas nearby. We never had any problems with crime.
I can't really speak to the family network issue since I don't have any kids.
Below is a link to the VA Beach schools website. You could also check for jobs in Chesapeake.
