one crowded hour is on a distinguished road
You should take a look at Olde Towne in Portsmouth. I moved here a few months ago. I love the pedestrian-friendly aspect of the downtown with its restaurants, pubs, marinas, etc. There's also a one-dollar ferry that you can pick up in Olde Towne that will drop you off in downtown Norfolk, giving you access to many more things to do.
