Ive been here for almost 3 years and it never ceases to amaze me how unprofessional and slothful the workers are in this area. Im from Chicago where professionalism is instilled in us from elementary school and customer service is a way of life. Even our most idiotic scum employees have a sense of customer service and where it fits in the scheme of a companies existence. The employees in this area act as if service with a smile, small talk, energy, friendliness, customer concern, and paying attention to the customer is a pain in the butt.....and worse... as if you're interrupting them. And this is not just a few isolated incidents....this is an everyday occurrence a lifestyle...EXCEPT for at maybe Chick Fil A....lmaoooo...But seriously, can someone enlighten me.

Why is your title worded like a question but ending with exclamation marks!!

Seriously, though, I've never noticed this. At all. In fact, if I recall correctly, a study showed that people in Hampton Roads on average actually worked some of the longest hours out of all the major metros.

My husband lived in Hampton Roads all his life, and I lived there for about 20 years...and I can honestly say that most of my dealings with employees were good ones. I compare it to the northern cities that I was raised and lived in and still say that south of the mason-dixon line is a better, nicer, friendlier place to be.

Perhaps they are getting a vibe from you?

Customer service is declining all over, I wouldn't just pin that on Hampton Roads.

And as much as I dislike Chik-fil-a, you're right, they do have superior service.

Yeah, kind of like folks who complain about tailgating while going slow in the fast lane.

He/she has demonstrated a not so good attitude, so.....the issue is probably them.

As always the experience is better in another location but there is some truth to your observation. Because of the highly transient nature of the region "customer service" historically scores low but not to the extreme that you seem to have experienced. As for the Chicago upbringing does that include gun usage & application because their customer disagreements seem to end with gun violence, just an observation....
