I'm moving to Va Beach in the next few weeks and need a place to rent. Does anyone have info on cheap apartments or efficiencies? Preferrably close to 264 or lynnhaven mall as it's near my place of work. Jet noise doesn't really bother me, I might even enjoy it. haha.

I'm looking to pay around 600 a month. Is this even possible? Let me know.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think you will find anyplace around here, at-least something that is half way decent for $600/month. I would check craigslist.

I would have to say the only you way you will get an apt. at that price is if you can find them with Income Restrictions, which in turn would mean two things; one being you would have to have to meet those restrictions (single person 27,000 max income typically), and you would be in a "sketchy" area. However if you are cool with being in the "hood" then go for it. :-)

Even then you will be VERY pressed to find something. We live in a two bedroom apt in that exact area with tons of jet noise and we pay 1035.00 (You won't like jet noise. You will go deaf actually. The jets are so low we feel like we can reach up and touch them as they set off car alarms because of the vibrations created when they fly by.) You can't even rent a hotel/motel room for 600$ a month in Va Beach. You should try Ocean view, in Norfolk. They have cheap housing of course it's about 30 - 45 mins away and VERY sketchy. Also most places around here have a wait list to move in. You need to get put on a wait list soon or you may not have a place to come to.

ugh, ocean view is not a good neighborhood. Anything you get for 600 there is beyond sketchy. And if you haven't tried jet noise, you won't like it. It hurts your teeth.

I would suggest a room mate. You can get something decent for for about nine with two bedrooms. Something real nice for about eleven.
