Hello. I have lived here since I was about 15. I came from Maryland, I came from the city. I was plopped in the middle of a field. Corn, cotton and peanuts, and a highway in the front.

Nearest neighbor, a field away. no more walking into the city, to the movies... no more walking, unless your car broke downn somewhere.

I was a city girl trapped in a country world. I am 34 now. I have two children, and a wasband. Thats right, a wasband.

I moved further into the city after my parents passed, and I liked it, but once I seperated from my husband, my children and i, we moved further into the country, into a small town.

I love it. The schools are the best, the people are nice. I love it here, in this small town.

Now, I love looking at the fields. Nightlife? yep, thats me on the front porch swing you see...

how do you like where you live? Do you live in suburbia? The country? A small town?

I like where I live because it offers both the urban and the sub-urban lifestyle. I can walk to many restaurants, a mall, stores, etc or get into the car and travel into a more suburban area. Although I like urban(ish) living I am not sure a total urban lifestyle is for me.. but then who knows?

I can walk to one place here.... a little old station that used to be a gas station, but no longer is. Now, it is a place where the people from this little town go to talk, and there is an old Mary Jane metal bench infront.

The man who owns it, is the man I rent my house from. His mother cooks something everyday, and you can go in and she says.. want some lasagne? Theres a plate...

On some Saturdays when I dont have my kids, I go in and sit for a little while. Talk to her, or whoever is in there. And eat...

The stores are a short drive away, but this little town within the city, I love it. There is a small bank, a flashing light... no stop light. One small drs office... drive down the road a bit, and you hit 60mph...

You are on your way to where you need to be, but you have the quiet of the small town right here. Sit on your front porch and as people walk by, the smile and you wave at eachother, say hello...

Love it.

LOL... There are no cornfields right now, but when I moved here, there were some at the time.

I live in Suffolk. I was in Suffolk just near Windsor for many years, now I am near Franklin.

The only thing out here this past season was cotton.

I live across from cotton fields, and they are beautiful.. Thats where I live...

The last time I was at the Ampitheatre, it was to see Matchbox Twenty, and Sugar Ray opened for them.

That concert was great! Sat up in the lawn as Sugar Ray ran through the seats in a sombrero and g-string... wowsers!

Yep! Just walked down to the shop and paid my rent, sat down and drank a Pepsi, offered some BBQ, but I am not much on that, I declined, but enjoyed the conversation. A neighborhod police officer was in there telling about the goings on of the night before....

wild stuff...

I have enjoyed living in Virginia Beach. I came here as a 4th grader in the late '70s. I think I had a great public school education and have made many good friends over the years.

This area has many of the advantages of a large city, without some of the drawbacks, IMO.
