I'm looking at possibly the same thing. I hope you get at least 2 answers so we both can rent 1.

I have a 2 bedroom (2 master suites) in the finest neighborhood in Chesapeake (adjacent to Virginia Beach) for rent for $1350 per month...Long term tenant just moved out...This is a wonderful townhouse - large living/dining room combination, kitchen with breakfast bar to dining room, single car garage, wtw carpet, gas fireplace, 1700sf, fenced in back yard, etc...Email me at wmma1@cox.net if you want me to send you pictures...John

I am so sorry it took me so long to reply. Thank you for the the advice and that one offer but I was looking for something closer to Hampton. That is where I work and currently live now. I am having a hard time finding a place where they accept German Shepards. My Fiance is in the military and within the next year he will be rotating to sea duty. I will be home alot by myself and I am just looking for an affordable place in a decent neighborhood.

You will have a tough time finding a complex or "managed" property that allows Germen Shepherds. We are lucky just to have found a place that allows dogs over 20lbs. I would concentrate on individually owned, owner-landlord properties.

Not that many TH in this area (at least compared to where I used to live). I would also suggest looking into a smaller SFH. I rented a SFH with a big fenced in yard for $300 a mo cheaper than a 2 or 3 br apt.

I just wish you could require the landlords to apply and provide references the same way the renter does. The last owner-landlord I had was a bum. Really burnt me on trusting anyone who doesn't have a supervisor I can call when they aren't responsive.

I would suggest renting a single family home. You'll get more house for your money and not having to put up with loud boom-boom music and possible fires. We've had alot of townhome fires in Va Beach this year due to carelessness.
