Western Branch Area - Pughsville?
My family and I will be moving to Chesapeake this summer. We've done a lot of research on schools and commutes for my husband to work, and we've decided that the Western Branch area would be best for us.
Are there "bad" areas of Western Branch, or areas we should avoid? There are some great houses for sale in the Pughsville area...is that a good area?
Has anyone heard of the new houses called Towne Park @ Goose Creek? What's your opinion on that area?
THANKS!!!

I cant speak specifically to those areas but i can tell you that right next to the pughsville development is a trailer park.
The houses do look nice, but i suspect its not as nice as it seems - check out steeplechase and kempton park - the other side of the trailer park and nicer looking developments with similar prices.

Western Branch itself is a very nice area. However, I am not sure about Goose Creek - I just havent seen those houses yet. The only 'bad' area is the Suffolk side of Taylor Road - and all in all, that area is just not that bad.
You are close to shopping and the highway in Western Branch and it is a nice suburban area.

WOW - I would never consider WB 'Rough'. Not sure where you were, but it couldnt have been anywhere near Tyre Neck Road or Bruce Road.

In that case, then I am REALLY surprised that area is still called Western Branch. I thought WB was all centered around the WB elem/middle/HS. This has always been my understanding at least. Stick closer to Ches Square Mall and you are much better.

I just moved off of Pughsville exit this past summer- 2007 We live in the Wellington community. I have to say it's wonderful. There are many wonderful children and families galore. We moved from California and we did not know what to expect and it has been everything plus more. My 3 out of 4 boys go to Western Branch primary/Intermediate and the teachers are great. It has been a positive experience for my husband and my children. As far as the area around there is a YMCA 1 mile away that is going to be very popular this summer since 2 new pools are being built. Everything is 1 mile away, Home Depot, churches, groceries, libraries, parks. It's a great area. My husband works at Little Creek and it is a drive for him but it is well worth it. Best of Luck and try to remain positive and an open mind everyone has different expectations.

Hi "Grovesfive". I have friends that are renting a house in Wellington this summer- Navy family. We are looking to buy something off of Dock Landing Road. We are having a hard time finding preschools for our 4 year old. Do you know of any good ones? My husband is already working down there but the schools are closed by the time he gets home. He checked out the YMCA last night, but didn't mention the pools. Are they inside or outside? Thanks for posting the nice info about Wellington. Connie

Hi LOVEZEUSER, do you know SAM-- She has friends moving here this summer in Wellington I wonder if it's your friends? I love Dock Landing and I just found it when my boys were playing baseball at Chittum Elem. Wish I moved there.... Anyway to answer your question about preschools, I just enrolled my to be 3 year old at Aldersgate. Recommended by 5 people I have met. I really like it and great atmosphere. They are taking application at United Methodist for pre-schools which is next door to Chittum Elem and down the street from Dock Landing Houses.. The YMCA are popular here as well for care.... Those are the oly ones I have heard about. Good Luck and Wellington does have a lot of houses for sale right now!!!!
Maybe I will run into you sometime
