Well, tourist season is over, parking at the Oceanfront should die down to being free until next tourist season here soon. The kids are back in school - so just a warning that events in Hampton Roads are slowing....
Also note: Most of these events might reschedule due to Hanna, that is ever-so-approaching.
This Saturday is the FM99 Lunatic Luau 12 at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater. This concert starts at $9.99/person. With bands like The Grant Austin Taylor Band, Revery, Eve to Adam, Download, All that Remains, Aris, Saving Abel, Hatebreed, Taproot, Ratt, and Sevendust, this is sure to be a great concert. If the event is to be cancelled/postponed, the decision will be made by 9am on Saturday.
In Hampton, The Abbitt Realty Bay Days 10K race and 1 Mile Cannonball Crab Grab Run will take place on Saturday. This marathon will be held across from the Virginia Air and Space Center. Festivities will begin at 730am.
Head over to 4600 Lookout Road in Virginia Beach for the 3rd Annual Chic's Beach Art Show. This event will occur between 10am and 4pm. With a wide variety of art for display and purchase, you can be sure that some beautiful works will be there. Because of the fragile nature of some pieces, if it rains, the event will be rescheduled for September 13.
On Saturday, between 7-9pm, head over to GF Keagan's at Hilltop East (in Virginia Beach) for the Pyramids 'n Paws SPCA Fundraiser. Entertainment consists of belly dancers from Bodyworks by Chandani. A portion of all food purchases will be donated to the Virginia Beach SPCA Shelter home.
On Sunday, head over to the Garden and Playgrounds Dedication at St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children in Norfolk. Children of all ages (and all abilities) will have to work together on a scavenger hunt, put together arts and crafts.. and they will all get to enjoy the newly furbished garden, courtyard, and playgrounds of the long-term pediatric residential facility of the area.
Head over to the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk on Sunday for an evening of animals and a performance by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. This event for all ages is known as Lions, Tigers, and Symphony, OH MY! Admission is free to Virginia Zoo members and Virginia Symphony Subscribers. Those of you with Bank of America can also get in for free by showing your BoA checking/debit card. The Symphony goes on at 6.
This weekend and next, head over to Busch Gardens for the Bud and BBQ event. Enjoy the theme park during the day, and at night, enjoy BBQ, Bud and some bluegrass music by Josh Gracin and Aaron Tippin.
Also this weekend is the 26th Annual Hampton Bay Days - one of the largest family friendly events in this area! This event is FREE! Open Noon-11:00 p.m. on Friday; 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, and Noon- 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. So head over to Settler's Landing in downtown Hampton to enjoy the sights and entertainment to behold by the Bay Days Event! This event does tie in the with 10K race mentioned above. Oh, and did I mention fireworks? Oohhh Yeah.
