Just found this out, this weekend is the grand opening of the first McDonald's McCafe on Indian River Road in Virginia Beach. First 100 adults and first 500 children will receive a free gift. Children will also be able to meet Ronald McDonald live!!

Okay, I just found out (last night) about another charitable event that sounds like a BLAST. The 5th Annual DUCKTAPE Regatta!!! So head out to Bayville Street in Norfolk to watch teams make a boat in 4 hours from a "boat kit"...... and WATCH THEM GO! Building starts at 9am; racing starts at 2pm.

Sink or swim.

As Erma posted above, this weekend is the American Music Festival down at the oceanfront. ((Kuharai will be trying to get as far away from that as possible!!)) As it is such a "big hit," there's not much else going on. Don't ask me why other cities aren't trying to steal the limelight....

Friday is the 96X-fest featuring Paramore with Phantom Planet, Paper Route, and more at the nTelos Pavilion.

On Sunday is the Rock n' Roll Half marathon in Virginia Beach. It starts at 7am on Sunday - with the starting line at the Convention Center on 19th Street.

On Monday, you could head out to the Chesapeake City Park for the 4th Annual End of Summer Super Bash - Charity Car Show and Bass Off. Food and fun for all ages... with over 700 cars being showed off. Proceeds from this event will go to the Intrepid Fallen Hero's Fund and CHKD.

With this being Labor Day Weekend - and right before school starts, there's not much going on in Hampton Roads. I guess we're all supposed to be going to the sales!

I've become pea-brained again and forgot about this! You can thank Tokyo Crazy Paradise for that....

Well, tourist season is over, parking at the Oceanfront should die down to being free until next tourist season here soon. The kids are back in school - so just a warning that events in Hampton Roads are slowing....

Also note: Most of these events might reschedule due to Hanna, that is ever-so-approaching.

This Saturday is the FM99 Lunatic Luau 12 at the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater. This concert starts at $9.99/person. With bands like The Grant Austin Taylor Band, Revery, Eve to Adam, Download, All that Remains, Aris, Saving Abel, Hatebreed, Taproot, Ratt, and Sevendust, this is sure to be a great concert. If the event is to be cancelled/postponed, the decision will be made by 9am on Saturday.

In Hampton, The Abbitt Realty Bay Days 10K race and 1 Mile Cannonball Crab Grab Run will take place on Saturday. This marathon will be held across from the Virginia Air and Space Center. Festivities will begin at 730am.

Head over to 4600 Lookout Road in Virginia Beach for the 3rd Annual Chic's Beach Art Show. This event will occur between 10am and 4pm. With a wide variety of art for display and purchase, you can be sure that some beautiful works will be there. Because of the fragile nature of some pieces, if it rains, the event will be rescheduled for September 13.

On Saturday, between 7-9pm, head over to GF Keagan's at Hilltop East (in Virginia Beach) for the Pyramids 'n Paws SPCA Fundraiser. Entertainment consists of belly dancers from Bodyworks by Chandani. A portion of all food purchases will be donated to the Virginia Beach SPCA Shelter home.

On Sunday, head over to the Garden and Playgrounds Dedication at St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children in Norfolk. Children of all ages (and all abilities) will have to work together on a scavenger hunt, put together arts and crafts.. and they will all get to enjoy the newly furbished garden, courtyard, and playgrounds of the long-term pediatric residential facility of the area.

Head over to the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk on Sunday for an evening of animals and a performance by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. This event for all ages is known as Lions, Tigers, and Symphony, OH MY! Admission is free to Virginia Zoo members and Virginia Symphony Subscribers. Those of you with Bank of America can also get in for free by showing your BoA checking/debit card. The Symphony goes on at 6.

This weekend and next, head over to Busch Gardens for the Bud and BBQ event. Enjoy the theme park during the day, and at night, enjoy BBQ, Bud and some bluegrass music by Josh Gracin and Aaron Tippin.

Also this weekend is the 26th Annual Hampton Bay Days - one of the largest family friendly events in this area! This event is FREE! Open Noon-11:00 p.m. on Friday; 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, and Noon- 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. So head over to Settler's Landing in downtown Hampton to enjoy the sights and entertainment to behold by the Bay Days Event! This event does tie in the with 10K race mentioned above. Oh, and did I mention fireworks? Oohhh Yeah.

BBQ, bud, AND bluegrass? Ahhhh heck. I guess I won't hidding in the bathroom while Hanna passes, now.

BTW, manga?! Go find find School days and get back to me after it has broken your soul. ;p And I mean the manga, not the PC game. For the love of all that is holy, do NOT download the PC game.
