SummerFest will begin this Friday. Hailing from right outside Fort Monroe in Hampton, there will be music, fun, games, food, and all sorts of nifty things going on.
SummerFest will be Every Friday until August 8.
As for Saturday... it's the 25th Annual STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL!!! This event will take place Saturday and Sunday - an absolutely awesome time every year. This is one of the cream-of-the-crop events for Virginia Beach, in my opinion.

In Portsmouth on Saturday, a Suffolk/Driver Tornado Relief Ride will be held. Admission is $10 and Registration is from 9-11; with the Ride leaving at 11:30 AM. This will be at the Bayside Harley Davidson on Frederick Blvd.
In Virginia Beach, this Saturday, they will be holding a WildLife Safari. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The cost is $8 person - and the meeting place is Little Island City Park.
In Williamsburg, there will be the James River Plantation Patriotic Progressive Candlelight Tour & Dinner.

At Towne Point Park this weekend, we have the Afr'am festival. The theme is "Celebrating the Essence of Family" - and will start out with a parade at 10am.
More information can be found at their website. I've personally been to this in a previous year and I was quite impressed with it. The over vibe of this festival is amazing.
On Sunday, at Our Run-A-Round in Portsmouth, there will be the Take 25 event observing National Missing Children's Day. Information will be available on prevention of abduction, literature will be handed out - and Children ID Kits will be available.
Also beginning Sunday is the Tax Holiday for Hurricane Preparedness. Items such as batteries and flashlights will be without State Tax from Sunday up until the 31st of May. Here is a PDF of all items in the tax exemption status
On Monday, Portsmouth will be holding their
Memorial Day Parade & Remembrances. Absolutely free, this will start at 11 a.m. at I.C. Norcom High School on London Blvd.
I kept forgetting to mention this, but this coming week is the
Final Week of the Virginia Arts festival. I don't know how I could have forgotten - one of my friends has some of her artistic work in it.
Another event going on this weekend the Remember the Music - Remember the Heroes (broken link)event in Virginia Beach. Live entertainment will be on 17th, 24th, and 31st street parks. Back by popular demand is the Heroes Walk along the boardwalk. Essays by high schoolers about all of the military conflicts America has endured. Make sure to bring some Kleenex. You will need them.
Also on Monday is the Wreath Laying at the War Memorial in York County on Main Street.
Also, the Virginia War Museum on Warwick Boulevard in Newport News will be having their annual Memorial Day Remembrance.
There seems to be a lot going on. As for me, personally... I'm going to bug my husband for the Strawberry Festival.
