Great responses everyone. Thank you.
For those of you who love the beach, how do you find the Bay? For example, Chick's Beach (Chix?). Does it feel the same as the ocean front beach?

I grew up on the coast... a bit further south from VA Beach in South Carolina and I love love love the beach; the vibe, the beauty, the relaxing, sun, people-watching. I don't have any experience on a Bay-beach and so I am wondering how others find it compared to a traditional oceanfront beach.

Chic's Beach is a smaller beach.. smaller waves, smaller crowds/fewer tourists. Mostly neighborhood parking vs the large, paid parking lots at the Oceanfront.
If you, or family members, surf and/or bodyboard, you wanna be at the Oceanfront, Croatan, etc..

I think Chic's Beach is generally a more laid back beach experience.. if u have little kids & want bathrooms close by- Oceanfront is better.. /peace

The area is known as Chic's Beach which is short for Chesapeake Beach. And Babe gives a very good description.
