IMO there are waaaay too many people living in the North End with a major entitelment mentality. Their thinking goes something like this: Since I have the big bucks required to live here, I am entitled this beach! The beach belongs to me. It's all mine. No one else can use my beach. Who do these low lifes thing they are? The nerve of these people parking in front of my house, on my street, at my beach. I'm special becasue I have more money than you!

Naw..they're just deeper in debt! There are two municipal parking lots. After 5pm Va residents pay one dollar.

Park in the public garages or lots, sometimes the private lots can go upwards to $20 for parking.

There are two public lots on 19th street. Another public garage at the hilton hotel on 30th street. And I believe there is one more parking garage on 9th street.

Great thread, perfect timing. Just came back from a weekend visiting my fiancee in VB. Decided to go to the beach downtown (we do prefer Sandbridge for beach, but we wanted more to do/see that night) in the evening and first tried a private parking lot- charging $15 to park at 6:30 pm! We drove around for a while, then got lucky and found a meter, after much arguing about what our parking tactics should be, haha. I told him I would log on here and ask about parking, and lo and behold I didn't have to!

I agree that there are worse downtown beaches (I also spent my childhood in Ocean City MD), as well as better ones (we like Rehoboth DE)- but living so close to the beach it seems almost a sin not to take advantage of it when we are in the mood for loudness and craziness. We caught one of the street performers doing a cool show, and the beach was not at all crowded, so definitely worth it. And now we know where to park next time! Thanks all.

Monday - Friday only. If you want to go down on the weekend, you pay the $7 that the tourists do.

I don't have a problem with people using the public beach in front of my place, or parking in the public spaces on the street. I do have a huge problem with idiots who park in the drive in front of our condo and block the entrance. And not all of us are in debt. I have no credit card balances and no car payments. Plenty in savings and 401K's. Maybe I am in the minority.

Yes you are. Virginia Beach ranks 11th highest in the country for credit card debt.

And remember, lots of people wiped out their credit card debt by borrowing against their press board boxes.

I'm not a Va Beach resident. Maybe that's why the statistic doesn't apply.

Incorrect, even on the weekends, after 5pm, VB residents pay only $1.
