Default How many dogs are you allowed to have in Chesapeake?

Hi! I'm new, but I think I'll be around for a while. I am trying to find out if there are any laws that limit the number of dogs you can own without a license in Chesapeake.

If you know, please point me to it, we are thinking about getting a third dog this weekend.

Also, if you have any info on the dog parks in Chesapeake, please let me know. We will be interested in checking them out soon!

Every dog you get should be licensed. I believ it's required. As long as you own your home, you should have no problem with three. You can always go to a shelter and ask.

Va Beach is 5, if your yard is alotted for them. The veterinary hospitals/clinics are now required to report all rabies vaccinations to the city, so licensing them is smart. It's 7 for neutered/spayed animals and you can pay for their license for a 3 year interval, which covers the time period of the rabies vaccine and makes it so much easier.

Thanks Everyone! We didn't get the dogs licensed last year b/c we couldn't afford it, but we will be doing it this summer (when our Petsmart plans renew) so we can take them to the Dog Park.

Yea, it normally takes about 60 days to get the license once you send in the paperwork / money.
