About to sign a lease and make deposit on home in Poquoson?
We found a home we really like in the town of Poquoson. We have heard have some friends who lived there and loved it. A friend of a friend did a drive by on the home and said it was spectacular. I just want a few more warm fuzzies before signing the lease.
- It's 6 miles from the base
- 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, 2800 sq ft
- 2 miles to the school
- No flooding problems

Poquoson is a very nice area. It is a small town and the schools are good. Like anywhere on or so close to the water, I would really check out the "no flooding problems" statement. There are some beautiful homes in that town.

We're thinking of Poquoson too. Newport News is where my DH will work but I don't think I want to live there.

I live in Tabb and the nearby Poquoson area is great. The Poquoson seafood festival and craft market was there a few weeks ago. Poquoson is a great area to live in and very close to Langley and NASA.

I would check on the "no flooding" part also. I have a coworker that lives in Poquoson. I also know a firefighter and his wife that live there. Both have had flooding issues. And one of them has elevated their house during the last year or so.

I agree with Fl Beaches re: Poquoson flooding. Go to Floodsmart.gov: Your premier resource for flood insurance information and check the home address for flood potential. Although a survey would need to be done to be certain this will give you a good idea if it's in a flood zone.
