Airplane noise in Williamsburg
Looking at a map, I see that Williamsburg has an airport. How noisy are the skies around there? How does the airport affect the value of houses? (How far away does one have to be before it isn't an issue?) Do people say, "I don't want to live in Williamsburg because of the airplane noise"? or are the other things in Williamsburg (W&M, Colonial Williamsburg, etc.) enough of a draw that people don't care about the planes?
I grew up in Queens, NY near (but not right next to) both LaGuardia and JFK airports so we did hear some airplanes but it was never really a problem (not too loud). Just wondering how people in Williamsburg feel about the airport there.

From what I've heard, it's minimal. I lived near Norfolk International for 20 years and it was rare to hear anything. Oceana is a whole other story, though in Windsor Woods, it's not as loud as other neighborhoods closer to the base.

the only airport in Williamsburg, is a little private plane airport. Williamsburg/ Newport news airport is in Newport News. The Roller coasters probably make more noise

We live here in Williamsburg/ James City County and hardly ever hear an airplane. We do hear the train when it comes through...ever so faintly.

I lived in Kiln Creek which is right next to to the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. No sleepless nights. There are not as many flights that go out from there like the major airports. It is actually in Newport News right off of Jefferson in Denbigh.

I live about 5 miles from the train and can hear that at times and honestly did not even know that we had an airport for the first year that I lived here! It's not a huge commercial airport like in Richmond so it's not bad at all.

Actually, I used to live a hop, skip, and jump from Busch Gardens (I could walk there) - and the noise was still not as bad as the jets over us in Windsor Woods.

I think the choppers are noisy and the jets we don't hear as much. Even my Jacks isn't bothered by the jets. A friend of mine lived more towards Lynhaven Pkwy on Scarlet Oak and it was amazing the noise difference between my place and hers.
