Default Does anybody have any input on Larkspur Middle?

We live in Kempsville and my daughter will be attending Larkspur next year. I was not thrilled to find out because parents that I have spoken to were not pleased. The student body is basically a blend of Kempsville and Green Run kids.

I am from Kempsville and heard it is a good school. It is a blend of the two areas but I think it is still decent. Check it out on the vbschools website.

I never went there personally (Kemps Landing for me) but my sister went there a few years back. She said it was an absolute terror for the first few weeks because of how large the school really is. She also said that the school had problems with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, violence, girls with very tiny outfits trying to attract the "big 'n bad" boys for "adult activity" and such.

She said it was really a weird mix of pre-teens trying to mimic high schoolers and college students.

I wouldn't advise letting your child bring anything personal worth over $20 (including cellphones, mp3/cd players, etc) because there is a lot of theft that goes. My sister had a keepsake necklace from our grandmother stolen from her and the school administration did absolutely nothing about it.

I'm not trying to scare you from that school because some children don't have a problem with it. My sister's on the smaller side and wears glasses, so she was frequently on the receiving end of many bullies.

my niece attended this school and did exceptionally well. She loved it. I think middle school is crazy anyway. Basically what kuharai described could be credited to just about any middle school : )

Crazy kids that are still very young, yet aspiring to be much older, with wild hormones raging... very strange age.

Very true, many middle schools have that exact description. Guess I'm just a little sheltered since none of that occurred at the middle school I went to. Everyone was more intent upon the studies over the social side of life. We were a bunch of nerds

Don't know how the school is now, but I wager that Kemps Landing is still one of the best middle schools in Virginia Beach
