My husband and I are planning on visiting Virginia in July. We are hoping to move to either Ricmond or Hampton Roads area next summer (2009), so we ware coming to check everything out and get a good feel for both places. Hopefully someone can help with some questions...

1) Anyone have a comparison between the two areas, as far as cost of living, job opportunities (I am in healthcare and he is an accountant), etc?

2) Would it be a wise idea to just drive around and look at areas or contact a real estate agent to help us - even though we won't be moving for a year?

3) Our one-year anniversary is occurring while we will be in the Hampton Roads area. Can anyone suggest a nice local place for dinner? Doesn't have to be extravagent, but should have good food (seafood would be nice).

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Vanessa

I am unfamiliar with Richmond, so I can't compare and contrast the two.

However, for your anniversary dinner, my folks love the Lynnhaven Fish House. It's nice with the water right out the window, but the best crab cakes I've ever had are at 456 Fish in downtown Norfolk. It's where I insist on going every time I go home for a visit! Actually, we've never had ANY bad dishes at 456 Fish. The other plus is your husband can run to Nordstrom and pick you up a nice sparkly something before the meal
