Does anyone living near Portsmouth smell a paper mill?

Prolly the smoke coming up from carolina, dismal swamp fire. In Virginia Beach, it smells like an ongoing campfire. Very strong this morning. Hope we get those sprinkles tonight that Julie Wilcox mentioned on the local news this morning.

I agree with Erma. About 3 nights here in Old town the smoke was so bad I thought that something was on fire right down the street!

The wind has changed course and it actually smelled fresh enough to cut off the a/c and open the windows. Tomorrow won't be so lucky. 90's, humid and the wind direction will bring the smokey smell back. I was hoping a good terrential downpour would have put it out. Do we know how the fire started?

I thought it was the dry conditions at least for the mess out in NC. Then the one out in the Dismal Swamp, I think I read in the news that some piece of construction equipment ignited.

Is that what caused it? We were wondering how it started, figured some kids started it. It was bad saturday morning, not that bad today.
