lots of land near Smithfield
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum and am looking for advice. Our family is likely moving to the HR area later this year from Lancaster, PA. We are looking home on 10-20 acres in the greater Smithfield area (definitely west of the river), semi-wooded, maybe on some water. We are looking for that very special property...not something in a development or neighborhood. We want it to be a real family homestead for generations to come (warm and nice but NOT pretentious). We also want to send our children to Catholic schools somewhere in the general area. Any help is appreciated!
Thank you!

Are you intending to buy a lot with a home in it or just interested to buy a land and build a home in it? Currently there are three listed properties in Smithfield within the price range 399K-600K. Two of which have houses built on the lot with approx land area of 5 acres each. The other property has a house built on the lot with approx land area of 11.5 acres.

That's getting close to what we want. Yes, we'd like for it to have a decent house on it but we're really looking for close to 20 acres that we can do some hunting, maybe fishing, but definitely chopping wood on. Thanks!

What about Isle of Wight. There is a 20 acre property approx 10 miles south of Smithfield in the low $300's. There are some 20-35 acre lots priced from $130k- $400k in Surry about 10 minutes form Smithfield. I'm not aware of any Catholic Schools nearby. The closest appear to be in Newport News or Portsmouth. There is Isle of Wight Academy ( private school in Isle of Wight) Isle of Wight Academy

I'd like to know about this property. Does it have any water on it? Is it semi-wooded? How far from the JR bridge since I'll likely be crossing that to take my children to school? What can you tell me about HR Academy, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Cape Henry Collegiate, St. Mary SOS, and Star of the Sea Catholic in VB? Looking for high quality schools, for sure. If we have to live closer to Chesapeake, so be it...to get great schools. No pretentious neighborhoods, though, since that's what we're moving out of here in Lancaster. Thank you!
