101 You point out Missy Elliotts mcmansion as a point of interest when you are taking out of town guests to Sandbridge.
102 You understand that 64 east sometimes goes west and 64 west sometimes goes east but it doesn't seem that odd to you.
103 You remember when Town Center was a bunch of trees and Columbus theater.
104 You assume that the car behind you on the on-ramp will immediately floor it, cut you off, and get over 3 lanes when you hit the highway.
105 You remember when we left the 804 and became THE 757.
105 You went to high school with at least 1 guy that is now in the NFL, NBA, or MLB.
106 You are willing to drive 10 miles out of your way (and burn $2 worth of gas) to avoid a $1 toll just on the principle of it.
107 You love to eat seafood but rarely buy it because at least 5 of your friends fish.
108 You ride your beach cruiser to Princess Anne Commons park and listen instead of paying for a ticket at the amphitheater.
109 You show up for NSU football games at halftime, stay for the marching band and dancers, then leave.
110 You go TO the beach when a hurricane is coming, just to check it out.
111 Someone in your family was in the military at some point.
112 You grew up listening to Tommy and The Bull (then Tommy and Rumble, then just Rumble), Mike and Mike, or the Boodah Brothers morning shows.
113 You recognize most of the places in the "rump shaker" music video.
114 You went to TCC for one semester on at least 3 different campuses.
115 Your favorite local restaurant is in a strip mall behind a gas station and you are mad that Yelp and urbanspoon have let the secret out.

This hit the nail on the head.

116 You've seen Rhondells' and Lewis McGehee's gigs by accident, without knowing they were performing at the club or festival you attended.

You refer to the southern part of Virginia Beach as "da county".

The ugly house across from IRP isn't Missy's or her moms. Word is a local lotto winner bought the land and built it. Missy's mom lives in IRP.

Yeah, I had heard that too and that her mom actually lives in Indian River Plantation... but I can't count how many locals have told me that the giant mansion is her house or her moms house. I personally don't really care who lives there, it is just a funny quirk of local people to point that place out as a point of interest like it is on cribs or lifestyles of the rich and famous. Another funny, but incorrect, local quirk is pronouncing Nimmo parkway as "nee-mo" like in finding Nemo... It is wrong, but people from the area will swear up and down that it is correct and even make up stories about why they know it is "nee-mo".

Her mom's house, in IRP, was on cribs. It's a nice place, but not the ugly monster house across the street.

I also love this thread and it makes me think of home more. I miss it. I will always refer to HR as Tidewater, as I grew up with that name. And, of course, I say Norfuk , and my Dad and Aunt say Nawfuk. I also love the tunnels and never slow down when I come visit. I love to hear my car exhaust in the tunnel! Does anybody remember 93.7 On the Border Alt Rock station in Chesapeake on the border of NC or the Atlantic Beach club at the beach with all the punk and metal shows?
