LIS > Administrative Code
There it is, all the automotive laws in the state of Virginia. Now the key is to find/know people who don't nitpick, which isn't too hard because most don't- just avoid the major "brand name" shops. I didn't read it all, but the sections that might not work with my vehicles I sure as heck kept a copy just in case...
VA is 50% tint front, 35% all around. But some shops will tint it 5% here for you if you want, they just are not going to pay you back if you get pulled for it. I have never heard of a federal law, but then you get into state rights/federal rights.

They are also big in protecting consumer's rights to modify their vehicles.
Good luck with the pipes, not hating, some v6s do sound pretty decent with some pipes - to each their own you know? Good luck, and remember, VA isn't too bad - we can carry concealed weapons, we can have mud tires that stick out of our fender flares, and most VA state troopers don't harass unless you call attention to yourself...

I didn't mean to sound like I was saying Virginia is bad, I just don't get some of the laws. And I won't be getting 5% anytime soon on my windows. ;p I agree that there are A LOT of V6's out there that sound like trash. One thing I can't stand is a car that sounds like a poed bumble bee in a coffee can. *cough*4 cylinders*cough* Darn chest cold. I made sure that the care I was buying would sound good with a couple of mods on it. There is a nice user group for these cars and plent of examples on how to get your car sounding and running good.
Hey, maybe one day I'll get brave enough to show it off to a couple of the car lovers here. Then again, I really like my car dentless, keyedless, and unstolenfied from. Thank you for the links. I'll check them out right after work.

For inspections you can try a place on Happy Street. I don't remember the name, but it's the only inspection station on Happy Street (which really isn't a big street! ). The guy passes me with my window tint, so that's why I go to him.
For the window tint laws, it's 35% on the back windows and 50% on the front. Just as long as they cops can see you through the front windows, it doesn't really matter how dark your back windows are. If they are extremely dark all the way around, that's when you draw attention to yourself.

Interesting little tidbit. I went to a rod shop over the weekend and they WOULD NOT install duals on my car. They told me that since my car didn't come with them, they would be illegal. I pointed out that when you get a car like mine, you can get one with single or dual pipes. They still would not do it. Why is everything considered illegal here? D: Here I am, prepared to shell out 600-700 bux for a new exhaust, and they wouldn't do it... I'm depressed now. :/

Yeah, what IS with the analness here in regards to 'stock' parts on cars? I'm thinking dual on mine, but man, who needs the hassle?

I've spoken to some kin down in NC and he will do it for me. He has a nice car shop and has always done good business. Personally, I'd rather drive a couple of hours to somewhere I know will do it right than to stick with someone who I have to beg to do it.
