Default Safe Neighborhoods not far from Norfolk

Anyone have any suggestions for nice, safe neighborhoods for biracial family with approx 30 minute commute to Norfolk? Up to $200k for house, schools will not be an issue by the time we move. What about Hampton? If so any particular area. Will be down there at the end of August to visit and I would like a 'starting' point. Any good advice will be greatly appreciated!

There are biracial couples everywhere. We're a big military community! Take your pick and check it all out when you come for a visit.

Which part of Norfolk? My neighborhood is about 20 mins from Downtown Norfolk and it's pretty safe and nice.

There are nice, safe neighborhoods within 30 mins from either Downtown Norfolk or Norfolk Norfolk (haha, not sure what you call that part..coming up towards VA BCH Boulevard where it turns into Norfolk). They sit along Military Highway/Indian River Road

There are also nice, safe neighborhoods in various parts of Norfolk and Portsmouth as well as Chesapeake.

I'm really only familiar with Downtown Norfolk, so I can't speak for the rest of the city. Try Sherry Park, or do a search for any neighborhood near Indian River High. I can't really think of the neighborhood names in particular. Sorry.

I suggest making your starting point Norfolk itself and spread out from there to find places. Ask around and do your own research upon what people tell you, because you ultimately know what you're looking for the most, you know? I think the vast majority of Hampton Roads is safe, but this can be subjective depending on peoples' experiences.

I wouldn't have Hampton on my list. The tunnel traffic to get back and forth to Norfolk will just drive you crazy!! You could look into suffolk, chesapeake, Va. beach and Norfolk. Norfolk is very large with some neighborhoods.
