48 million dollars spread out to 20,000 jobs is $2400 per person. That's not going to go very far.
Plz try again.

I'm not telling you to apease you, it's what they said on the news. All we care about is getting the roads fixed. When the lite transit is done one day, there will hopefully be less cars on the road.
escuse me, it's 4.8 billion dollars for the roads.

:-) Blight Rail is not likely to remove many cars from the roads. I'd guess everyone is hoping that everyone else rides the train so they get the roads to themselves.
I personally like my car. I like my loud stereo. I like driving fast. Perhaps I'm a jerk, but I don't really want to ride the bus to work (I actually walk to work now, but wouldn't mind moving out of downtown Norfolk if I could find a better deal on a place to rent that has a pool and large garage and stuff. I can't wait for the housing market to totally collapse, but still am not sure there is any point in buying in Hampton Roads).

That lite transit is just going to become a dwelling for the ghetto..and low class, mark my words..Every city that has this large amount of low income areas it happens in, just look up north..and if this thing comes to Newport News..good lord..Most will stick to their cars..

Oh please! Why can't we make something positive of this? This is not DC or other large metropolitan areas. People **** and moan about traffic and then **** and moan about public transits. This transit is far better than the bus system can provide. People won't be taking 3 buses to get to work. Let's give this thing a chance before you condemn it.

I don't complain about traffic. When I commuted more (working at the particle accelerator, etc) I just played with the hacked XBOX in my car.
I live in downtown Norfolk and work in downtown Norfolk, think I pay too much, and could care less about the light rail. I walked to work Friday, and almost did today.
I won't hesitate to move somewhere better when I find a rental that is better (I'd never buy at current prices because I know it's vastly overpriced, given the opportunities and people here). And no, I'm not poor. I don't live above my means either, and have zero debt.
I think Light Rail is an okay idea, but totally wrong solution. They had the chance to leave something great for the young people in the future. That is, maglev monorail type system. Elevated. Instead they are deploying the same garbage that used to exist in Norfolk and was abandoned and removed before -- light rail. Norfolk used to have streetcars. This isn't that great of a thing to leave for the future people. If we're going to spend money, do it right the 2nd time. You know?

There's ghettos everywhere. There are very few people in the US who have 8+ children.
There's a ton of museums and historic destinations in the area. Maybe you should try Goggling the area. Then again, I knew at 5 years old about some of the wonderful places in the area and I live in Upstate NY. It's amazing what you can learn if you are willing to travel to places outside your neck of the woods.
There's plenty of other kinds of meat for sandwiches out there. There's really only a handful of companies that make these things. They just change the ingredients a tad and change the labels.
You sound like a very angry person. Why did you ever move form Brooklyn to HR? Did you visit it before moving?
Don't bother moving to Charlotte or Atlanta if you want clubs/bars that stay open all night. It's not allowed. It's against the law. Most places in both cities close around 2am. There's laws that alcohol can't be sold after a certain time.
You went to VA for a change of pace? If you wanted to slow down and enjoy life a bit, you have a funny way of saying so. No one would have told you that VA is as fast or faster than NYC. DC is the craziest place and it's not really in VA.
If NYC was so great, why not go back there? The further South you go, the more you will have problems with no Boer's head and no clubs at 6 am. You'll get into dry counties and they are proud of being dry. They'll also be very happy to tell you to go home.

2. If I see another driver in front of me turn without using their turn signal I think I will catch a serious case of road rage and have to take a charge for assault lol!
3. For the people that live in Newport News and Hampton. How in the He!! do you live in the area all your life but never go across the water. I mean there's more to this area beside the Peninsula.

1.) Yep. Enough said.
2.) No turn signals and they have to come to a dead stop in front of you before they turn! LOL! I'm getting used to it, but bet my brakes don't last as long here!
3.) This mentality here AMAZES me! The people I work with think that since it takes me 20 minutes to drive home, I live far away! It is a very narrow minded "I'm gonna live in my little area" mentality.
One girl I work with actually has someone else drive her to her doctor in Norfolk! She says it's too far to go by herself. (she's in her early 30's!)
4.) See # 3
5.) This one doesn't bother me....I'm already like an old lady.

yeah, I agree. To be such a large area it really has an small town mentality. interesting food for thought.
